Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown Float

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Float across all PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated; candidates must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
• Manage central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage blood product administration; handle PCA and heparin protocols and IV insulin administration
• Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC ; complete required orientation modules per facility guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• EPIC experience required
• Must be comfortable floating between all PCU and MS units; staffing needs re-evaluated up to every 4 hours per shift
• Must be available to work one holiday per 13-week contract period; weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in telemetry, stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC settings
• Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Experience managing endocrine and metabolic conditions
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
